Not to be negative or anything, but those models are looking dated! Have you considered maybe purchasing a more modern model pack? As I recall the guns looked fine, but the char's needed a ton of work :-P
Yes, totally agreed, they're from the DarkMatter pack I purchased in.. 2004 I think. The models from the link do look pretty cool though (and the one with the mask would suit the Medic role) but perhaps a bit too expensive. They might be worth a second look if I end up attempting a commercial version of the game.
I have been collaborating with a few 3D artists recently though, maybe one of them might be interested in doing some new models for the game.
I spent a bit on original audio, plus a small amount to get the model pack (Though I already owned it before I started). There's also a fair bit in the game that was donated to the project by other people. I have no intention of commercialising this version of the game (excluding as part of a promotional Earok's Arcade bundle I'll be selling cheaply at Overload) but I have been contemplating creating a fully commercial version of the game from scratch for sale over XBLA or the indie channel.
Probably several hundred man hours, but I don't think it's really "Steam Quality".
If I remake it from scratch, using a decent middleware built on C++, and with a team of top quality artists and sound engineers, then maybe it might have a chance of getting a Steam release.
If you do let me know. Working with you in c++ I might learn something about game development. towards the end of the year our mods year I should have more time to work on things like this What constitutes steam quality? How much of the time spent that is unique to your game our related tu the assistance of your game based on specialisation. sorry in a mobile. It made sense to me before I started writing.
I think for a game to be Steam worthy, it needs a very high level of polish in Graphics, Gameplay and Audio. I don't think any of my games are at that level - yet.
Would definitely be keen to work with you on gamedev. Since you're also a C# coder I could definitely see us collaborating on XNA titles, too.

This pack is pretty hip, it's a little pricey though. I look forward to a coop Derelect though, old models and all.

Did you purchase much for the original game? Get it for free, or work with people?

I still think you should put out on steam...
How many people do you say worked on the game? Our more interesting yet. What do you suspect the total man hours to have been?

Yeah. Although C# is just a language. Looking to do some Java stuff shortly, as I have an android. :)
