The Kiwi's TaleWitchBlasterDerelict Blow Stuff Up

WitchBlaster in Monkey

The first public release candidate of the Monkey build of WitchBlaster is out, with both HTML5 and Flash flavours. This is now a 100% complete port of the Global Game Jam 2010 entry, with various enhancements. Most importantly, Anthony Lau has done a fantastic job on a new Witch sprite with dynamic animations. Please let me know what you think.

Edit - This is now the 'canon' version of the game. The old downloadable version is no longer available.

Edit 2 - It's also now available on the official Monkey App "Store" here

New sprite is AWESOME, music is great, the whole thing feels very slick and professional. I get my arse kicked by the giant bee but that's only because I suck! ;) Good work, as always.

Cheers Sam, much appreciated.

In regards to the Bee, he follows a predictable bouncing pattern that can be learned easily, also it helps if you save your Paradox spell (Press 'C') until you reach the bosses.

Hehe, yeah, I can see his bouncing pattern. He still kicks my arse, though :) I'll give it another shot. Thanks!

Ah, okay, I got to level 3 that time. I like it a lot. I am generally pretty bad at these types of games, but I reckon I was doing alright. All of your games have the right tactile 'feel' to them - something that is rather hard to do, apparently.

Yeah the new sprite is awesome.  Get Antony to do more!

Upload it to monkeycoder.co.nz, it would still be one of the more complete games as-is.

@Sam Cool, glad that you've enjoyed the game. There's only four levels so you're getting close to the end ;)

@Stephen Yep, Anthony produces fantastic art so I'd love him to do more, though he doesn't have a lot of time at the moment. Also, the source code is on the way to Mark, I've asked him to upload it.

Thanks for all your kind commets. (^_^)

Also thank Erik for his clever uses of the new sprites - they are matched perfectly with intended and unintended

scenarios (^o^)

When there're more free times, I will try to update other in-game sprites to make WitchBlaster look nicer ;)

Sorry for making double posting.

There're some latency on my connection... (^ ^;;)

Hi Anthony, no problem! I've got rid of the double post. Also, thanks for registering a username ;) and yes, I'd like it if you applied your artist magic to the other sprites in the game as well.

Tried it out and it runs great. I also really like the new visuals.

Hey Cobra, welcome to the site =D thanks for the feedback, I had presumed it'd work well on a Mac but I haven't had the opportunity to test it.
